Seaside Road Trip

When I mention my favorite vacation area in Florida, I usually have to explain the area location by using Destin, Florida as the landmark. My favorite area to explore in Florida is easily all of the little beaches along the 30A Highway. This is technically County Road 30A in South Walton County. This road spans close to 20 miles along the Florida's Emerald Coast.

A few beaches that are included along the drive are Rosemary Beach, Watercolor, Seagrove, Seaside, Santa Rosa and Alys Beach. Even the names of the beaches along this stretch create vivid images of beauty! Each beach has its own unique feel and personality but all of them provide a spectacular view of the ocean! While walking along the shore or relaxing in a beach chair, you will see white, powder like sand and so many different shades of blue and turquoise in the water. It's an absolutely stunning combination! These beaches can hold their own when comparing them to more exotic type tropical locations. What you don't see along these beaches is a long line of big hotels, restaurant chains or condos. What you do get is a group of beach towns that provide a walkable, bikeable environment full of quaint and charming shops, eateries, boutiques all steps from a beautiful view of the Emerald Coast. I love that they have airstream trailers and food trucks serving everything from upscale grilled cheese sandwiches to freshly baked donuts. A couple of local favorites include The Meltdown on 30A in Santa Rosa Beach and Charlie's Donut Truck - 30A located in Alys Beach. If you decide to take a road trip along the 30A Highway, you won't be disappointed. The scenery is as charming and beautiful as a scene from a Hallmark movie, but the beautiful white snowflakes will be replaced with beautiful white sand. Enjoy the view!
