Trekking the Gorillas in Uganda can be quite strenuous if you are not in great shape, but I have had three back surgeries, and I could do it!
Make sure you can walk at least 5-10 miles at a steady pace.
Make sure you can walk in both flat and steep (slightly) areas as we are going through the rainforest, and it's a thick jungle.
Ensure you have adequate footwear - this is not the time for sandals. You will need proper hiking shoes with a good tread on the bottom and ensure you break them in before you travel, so you don't incur foot problems while hiking.
You can hire porters to carry your belongings if that helps, and they also get to earn some extra income.
Thankfully, our partner in Uganda, Rwenzori Safaris, also has connections with the Uganda Wildlife Authority so we can get within a 1-hour hike to the closest habituated family of gorillas.
Please ensure you have the following with you for this trip:
-Your Yellow Fever Vaccine Certificate (you will be denied entry to the country without it)
-A hat, sunglasses, long pants for hiking, bug spray, spending money, malaria medication
