Located on the Northwest Coast, Port Louis is the administrative and business capital of the island. Buzzing with activity during the day, the city is full of cultural and historical treasures that should not be missed. Beyond the central market, which is a focal point for those who want to feel close to the soul of Mauritius, are many historic sites including the Champ de Mars - the oldest race course in the southern hemisphere, among others.

Le Caudan Waterfront

Le Caudan Waterfront is a commercial development in Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius. It comprises of more than 170 outlets and includes shops, banking facilities, casinos, cinemas, restaurants, a marina and a five star hotel. On top of being an undeniable must for shopping, Le Caudan Waterfront is also a business centre, a melting pot for local artists and the favourite meeting place for gastronomes, tourists and locals looking for leisure and entertainment. The careful balance between historical structures and modern architecture takes the visitor through distinct ambiences from one building to the next.

Victoria Urban Terminal

Victoria Urban terminal, a marriage between heritage and modernity. With its 50 trendy stores, its colorful market and its electric food court, the Victoria Urban terminal is a living and meeting place. Bringing life back to the old Victoria station, it preserves the long-known and shared heritage, while blending in with modernity. The Victoria Urban Terminal is an inclusive space dedicated to everyone. It includes 67 shops and restaurants, as well as a market with 1000 stalls for the now relocated former street vendors. The Victoria Urban Terminal is also equipped with six elevators and five escalators.

Fort Adelaide

The Historical Citadel Fort is located about 100 meters high on the hill of Petite Montague, and has become one of Mauritius historical attractions. The Fort, which is also known as the Adelaide Fort (named after the wife of William II, when the British held land in Port Louis), offers stunning views of the entire city of Port Louis as well at the harbour. The Fort was constructed in the early 19th century by Colonel Cunningham as an attempt to protect the British Army from the enemy. It is constructed in a Moorish style, complete with horse shoe arches. The fort has been constructed using large rectangular blocks. The Fort has now been converted into a National Monument and is surrounded by the Caudan Waterfront and the vast Indian Ocean.
