Senior Manager - Editorial Content

Skyscanner is a leading global travel search site and app, a place where people are inspired to plan and book direct from millions of travel options at the best prices. We employ over 1000 staff across 11 offices globally, and, having reached market leader status, we were recently acquired by Chinese online travel company Ctrip in a deal valued at £1.4bn. While we remain operationally independent, our acquisition by Ctrip allows us to take the business to the next level of accelerated global growth. It’s a hugely exciting time for Skyscanner and the over 80m people who use us every month. We are unbiased and free, and our secret is in our unique proprietary technology that connects people directly to everything the travel industry has to offer.

We put our travellers at the heart of everything we do and want that to shine through in every sentence we write.

We're looking for a brilliant editorial lead to create our regional editorial strategy, writing and commissioning compelling and emotionally engaging editorial content for our website, social channels and organic search. While you have a passion for SEO and current trends, your obsession lies in writing for people, rather than machines.

You'll commission, write and edit everything from on-brand, inspirational destination pages to trend-based news site articles. Working with a small talented team of in-house writers, you'll also use your extensive contacts to build a large global network of expert travel freelancers to manage editorial content.

You'll help lead the discovery of new topics and areas of editorial expertise for the company, as well as the optimisation of existing content. In partnership with our data science team, you'll strive to find new way to turn numbers into valuable insights that will support our editorial aims and inspire travellers to make the very best travel choices.

You get under the skin of business objectives and deliver copy that is free of cliches and ranks well for search. Working alongside teams focused on increasing conversion, engagement and website traffic, you'll be hungry to understand the performance of your content and seek to scale your successes.

Finally, as a guardian of our brand voice, your naturally warm and conversational tone is matched by your creative flair. Oh, and you come full of enthusiasm and brimming with fresh ideas our travellers will love.

What you'll be doing:

  • Writing creative, engaging and valuable on-brand editorial content for travellers.
  • Helping to manage the global editorial content calendar, coordinating with SEO and regional leads on targets and strategy.
