The Local Nomad - clean, comfy, and chill hostel in western Colorado

Nestled in the North Fork Valley on Colorado’s Western Slope, Paonia is the perfect base camp or stop-over to explore the Western Slope’s organic agriculture, art, wine, music, state and national parks and forests, hiking and biking trails, and small town life. Paonia is part of the Colorado Creative Corridor and the West Elks AVA.

The Local Nomad is centrally located in the heart of downtown Paonia. Walk just a block or two to find boutique shopping, art galleries, casual and fine dining, a non-profit theater, and two micro-breweries. Drive less than 10 minutes for award-winning wines, orchards, farm stores, and mountain biking.

We offer hostel-style accommodations with sparkling clean shared or private rooms. Our common spaces include two living rooms, a well-appointed kitchen, a hammock porch, and a large yard and garden.

Paonia is a vibrant rural town on the West Elk Loop Scenic Byway. Our population is only about two thousand, but we are an active and engaged community with live music, art openings, and other weekly events, along with several seasonal festivals.

For even more adventure, in less than two hours you can be in Grand Mesa National Forest, Black Canyon National Park, and the towns of Aspen, Carbondale, Gunnison, and Crested Butte. Travel just a little further to Moab, Telluride, and Durango.
