How much money should I bring along?
If you book our package-based trekking, you don't need money for three meals (breakfast,
lunch, dinner) and accommodation. However, you need money for extra food, energy drinks,
wifi, a hot shower, and your personal expenses.
What are the permits required for Annapurna Base Camp Trekking?
You need to have some paperwork to be done beforehand and during the trekking. Mainly, two types of permits are required for the Annapurna base camp trekking: Trekker’s Information Management Systems (TIMS) card and Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) entry permit.
How long should I walk everyday on ABC Trekking?
You need to walk about 5-8 hours each day during the Annapurna base camp trekking. It depends on your walking pace and the altitude. It will be longer on the days like of hiking to Poon Hill.

Hiking Boots

Head Lamp
A reliable and versatile flashlight for trekking should be a compact LED headlamp or handheld flashlight with adjustable brightness, long battery life, and preferably waterproof capabilities.
Sun Glasses
sunglasses with UV protection and polarized lenses are essential. Look for lightweight and durable frames that provide adequate coverage to shield your eyes from harmful sun rays, glare, and potential debris.
Duffel Bag
The potters will carry the bag with the help of ropes. So, you can get water/dustproof duffle bag of 60 liters from your trusted brand. You can also use the duffle bag provided by Shiva Excursion.
First Aid Kit
Pack adhesive bandages, sterile gauze pads, medical tape, antiseptic wipes, tweezers, scissors, disposable gloves, pain relievers, antihistamines, blister treatment, sunscreen, insect repellent, emergency blanket, elastic bandages, thermometer, safety pins, first aid manual, and any necessary personal medications or medical supplies. Power bank
There won’t be enough energy everywhere in the mountains. Carrying power bank will ensure you will have enough battery on your electronics devices like smartwatch, camera, e-books, and phone.

Sandals
A lightweight extra pair of sandals will be beneficial to carry during your trekking. In the tea houses you can’t get the sandals on your room like hotels in city.

Clothing Checklist for trekking in Nepal
Clothing is crucial for trekking as it provides protection against weather conditions, regulates body temperature, prevents injuries, and enhances comfort. Proper clothing choices can significantly impact safety, performance, and overall enjoyment of the trekking experience.
Base Layer clothing
Socks
It is preferable to wear moisture-wicking and insulating socks made of materials like merino wool or synthetic blends to keep your feet dry, warm, and comfortable.
Underwear
Carry enough set of underwear as per the duration and places of trekking.
Long underwear/thermals:
The thermals will help you to keep your body warm in the higher elevation.
T-shirt:
It's best to choose a moisture-wicking and breathable t-shirt made of lightweight synthetic materials like polyester or nylon. Avoid cotton shirts as they retain moisture and can lead to discomfort and chafing during physical activity.
Shorts
Shorts are more preferable to wear on lower elevation where temperature is high.
Outer Layer clothing
Down Jacket
A high-quality down jacket with a high fill power (600 or above) is recommended. It provides exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio, insulation even in wet conditions, and compressibility for easy packing. Down jackets are essential for maintaining body heat and protection against frigid temperatures experienced in mountainous environments during trekking. Sleeping Bag
Look for a sleeping bag with a temperature rating of -20 °C ( -4 °F) to ensure warmth and comfort during the chilly nights in the Himalayas. Additionally, consider a sleeping bag that is durable, moisture-resistant, and easily compressible for convenient packing. You can also hire the good quality sleeping bag from Shiva Excursion.
Hat
It is important to have a sun hat that provides ample protection from the sun. Look for a wide-brimmed hat with UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) to shield your face, neck, and ears from harmful UV rays. It should also be lightweight, breathable, and comfortable to wear during long treks
Windbreaker
The windbreaker will protect against wind chill, block cold air, and provide some level of water and snow resistance.
Raincoat
The weathers in mountains are always unpredictable. You can get raincoat which is comfortable to wear during the trekking and cover all of your body parts.
Trekking Pants
It is recommended to wear lightweight, quick-drying, and durable pants made of moisture-wicking materials like nylon or polyester. Convertible pants with zip-off legs can provide versatility in varying weather conditions.
Gloves
The water and wind resistance gloves with fur inside is recommended. You can also carry thin gloves to wear in lower elevation and warm weather conditions.
Gators
Most of the trekkers use the gators to avoid the snow and rain inside the boots. It is not mandatory to carry.
Personal Essentials Checklist
Water bottle
It is ideal to have a durable and lightweight water bottle. Look for bottles made from BPA-free materials, with a capacity suitable for your hydration needs. Consider options with leak-proof lids, wide mouth for easy refilling, and insulation to keep your water cool in hot weather. It is wise to carry a thermos bottle for cold weather and high elevation trekking.
Water purification
You can easily purchase the water purification tablet and liquid in Nepal. But the test of the water could change after it. You can get water filter, or you can buy mineral water or boiled filter water in trekking.
Sunblock
It is recommended to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of at least 30. Look for a sweat-resistant and water-resistant formula that offers protection against UVA and UVB rays. Choose a sunscreen that is suitable for your skin type and apply it generously before and during your trek.
Snacks
Carry enough nuts, chocolate bars and other snacks to keep you fueled throughout the journey.
Lip Balm
Carry your regular using brand Lip balm and wear buff to protect your lips.
Shower Kit
Carry Shampoo, soap, moisturizer, towel, comb, and other essentials of shower kit.
