Always do your research about where to find vegan and vegetarian food before you get to that place to save time. There are a lot of apps and websites like HappyCow that will help you locate the best vegan and vegetarian places in that area.

Also always look at the reviews of the food too from other vegans and vegetarians who have tried the food because not all restaurants know how to cook vegan/vegetarian food properly, especially in cities where vegan/vegetarian food isn't popular.
