5 Great Train Trips from London

London is so amazing! You could stay in London forever and still not see everything it has to offer, but there's more to England than just London and it's worth checking out. If you have time, consider these five train trips:

TIP: If you're between the ages of 16-25, consider purchasing the 16-25 railcard. It does cost money, but you'll get discounted fare on all your train trips. If you're only taking one or two trains it probably is not worth it, but if you're in England for a while and plan on taking multiple trains, it could save you a decent amount of money.

1. Brighton

Brighton is only a short ride from London and makes for an awesome day trip. There's the beautiful seaside and great shopping at the Lanes. Grab a 99 Flake ice cream and enjoy the rocky shore!

2. Bath

Another short ride from London - visit the Roman Baths, the Royal Crescent and the Jane Austen Centre. You can also arrange it so you see Stonehenge on the way there or the way back!

3. Manchester

Manchester is probably not on most people's England bucket lists, but I think it deserves a place there. It's England's third biggest city, there's an interesting university culture and an amazing musical history. Don't count Manchester out!

4. Edinburgh

Visiting Edinburgh from London is more than a day trip. It's a long train ride so go for a weekend or more! Edinburgh was my favorite train trip. The city is beautiful and the people were incredibly welcoming. Visit Edinburgh Castle, hike up to Arthur's Seat and try some haggis!

5. Cambridge (or Oxford)

Cambridge or Oxford make great day trips. The worldwide fame of these two universities definitely put them on my own "must-see" list. I visited Cambridge and it did not disappoint! The town is charming and the university is stunning. If I had more time, I would have gone punting. Maybe next time!

Hi, I'm Natalina and I run a travel blog called Fear of Flying. Yes, the name (as well as my fear of planes) is ironic, but the blog encompasses all the good things that can come from facing your fears and getting out there anyway! Let's go!
