The history and geography of Cairo

Cairo or Al Qahira (Arabic) is the 21st capital of Egypt was 969 n.chr. Founded by the Fatimid dynasty about 165 km south of Alexandria on the Mediterranean and about 120 km west of Suez Canal and is the largest city in the Middle East and the Arab world also the third largest city area in the Muslim world after Jakarta and Karachi.

The city has more than 10 million inhabitants and including people living in Giza, Helwan, shubra al-Khaimah, etc, more like 20 million inhabitants. In the 1980s, the subway was established in Cairo, from Helwan in the south to the city center or west to the Nile to Giza. Cairo is linked to ancient Egypt, where the capital "Memphis" and the most famous pyramids complex belong to its geographical area. From ancient Egypt, Roman, Byzantine, Islamic, and modern times there are sights where you can spend nice time. The hanging church, Bin Ezra Synagogue, the ruins of Babylon Fortress, the first and the oldest mosque in Africa, all this and more is located in ancient Cairo.

On the Nile and the surrounding area spreads many modern and tall buildings, hotels, the Egyptian Museum, Cairo Tower, Opera House, theaters and cinemas, etc. From Cairo you can drive in all directions or fly one or more days to enjoy beautiful times. East to Sinai, Sharm el Sheikh or Suez Canal and further south to Hurghada, Safaga, Marsa Alam etc. West to Giza the Pyramids and Sakkara Dahshur or on to Fayum, Dakhla, Siwa Oasis, in the Western Desert. North towards Alexandria the second largest cities of Egypt. South Pyramids in Beni Suef. In El Menya the tombs of the Mettler empire in Beni Hassan and the new empire in Tell el Amarna. Al-muharraq monastery in Assiut. Heading towards Luxor the temples in Abydos and Dendera in Luxor, the capital of the new empire Karnak, Hatshepsut, Luxor, Habu, Temple, Valley of the Kings, Queens, the Workers, the Nobles and much more. After Assuan Philae Temple unfinished obelisk, high dam, Nubian villages and Abu Simbel is located in the very south on Lake Nasser, Egypt is simply a very beautiful and dreamland, where everyone can feel his wishes very easily and cheaply there.
