I haven't visited the charming city of York in a number of years so I was excited to see this grand city for a day!
Arriving early in the morning, we spent a few hours walking around Christmas and The Shamble Markets. These were located in impressive streets that reminded me of Diagon Alley from Harry Potter. The markets truly got me in a festive mood. After the markets we had pre-booked York Dungeon. The dungeons lasted for around 90 minutes and I felt it was the most perfect way to learn about York, with fun facts, history and also a good laugh. However please be aware there is a chance you might get picked to join in with the actors, so it might not be for everyone.
We went for a little walk to see the beautiful York Minster where a wedding was taking place! The building is lovely and the architecture is impressive. I want to go inside next time.
Then we went to an Italian near York Minster called La Vecchia Scuola. I loved the food, especially dessert, best cheesecake ever! The atmosphere, decoration and service of this lovely restaurant. I would highly recommend a visit t0 La Vecchia Scuola.
Finally we went to the Grand Opera House where we watched Agatha Christie And Then There Was None. The show was breathtaking and the best stage show I've seen. I cherished watching my friend's reactions as she had never seen or read the book so she wasn't sure what to expect. The Grand Opera House is a lovely theatre and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Overall we had an enjoyable day and I would highly recommend a day in York if you ever get a chance.
Please leave a comment if you have any York recommendations!
